Valentine’s Day is around the corner. If you saw Thursday’s birthday blog post, you may have seen my due date was actually Valentine’s Day. This may explain why I have always loved this holiday even if I didn’t have a Valentine. I remember when I was a child, I would get so excited to decorate my Valentine box for our class party. Any holiday with an excuse to wear pink and red is a winner in my book! Jake and I even had our first date around Valentine’s Day many years ago.
Since the holiday is on a weekday this year, I know many of y’all will go for a more casual date if you celebrate on the actual day. We plan to stay in on the actual holiday and do something special at home. Over the weekend, we plan to do a nice dinner. Even though we plan to stay in February 14th, I still plan to dress in a cute casual outfit like this one.
I wore this pink draped coat for my birthday dinner this weekend with my family and think it would be perfect for a casual date. This coat is perfect for Valentine’s because it has a hint of pink, and it will be great for spring because of the weight. It is heavier than a sweater, but not as warm as a winter coat. This light blush pink color is supposed to be very in for spring, so I know I will get a lot of wear out of it.
This coat does run large, so I recommend sizing down if you’re in between sizes. To give it more of a shape, I tied the strap in the back (when I didn’t have it around my waist). Since spring is on my mind, I am starting to wear more transitional outfits. Adding a white top like this and boots with the coat make it perfect for transitioning into spring.
