Recently Jake and I explored The Market at Pepper Place, which is Birmingham’s local farmers’ market. One of our favorite things about moving has been exploring our new city and let me tell you, we’re very impressed with Birmingham. This city has Southern charm, amazing food and some of the most polite people ever. Visiting Birmingham’s farmers’ market has been at the top of my to-do list since before we even moved. It had been recommended to me and it didn’t disappoint.
If you’re living in Birmingham or coming to visit soon, it’s a must do. It’s only open on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. until noon, so unfortunately that rarely works for Jake’s schedule. Luckily we finally got the chance to visit last week. Jake had gotten off early on Saturday and then had his day off on Sunday. We only had about an hour and a half to spend there, but it was the perfect length of time to fully enjoy it.
The best thing about this farmers’ market was the food vendors. We got there just in time for an early lunch. We tried Pop’s Neighborhood Grill there and have already visited their permanent location since then because we loved it so much. Their bacon slaw hot dog is seriously amazing. Besides the fantastic food vendors, there are of course also vendors selling Alabama-grown produce, as well as also locally made crafts. I originally had to drag Jake there, but luckily he had a blast. He admitted that he enjoyed it and would love to go back when he can. The atmosphere and good food made it so fun. We enjoyed strolling around and exploring all of the fresh finds. The best part is it is really close to where we live. We ended up leaving with fresh flowers, fresh peaches, fresh mint and locally-made honey.
After spending the morning at the farmers’ market, Jake and I made some peach cocktails with the fresh peaches we picked up earlier in the day. Jake is more of a bourbon person and I am more of a vodka person, so we got creative with our own cocktails.
Farmers’ Market Peach Cocktail Recipes:
- 2-3 spoons full of muddled peaches
- 1 shot of Bourbon
- 1 shot of Vodka
- A few mint leaves muddled
- 2-3 spoons full of muddled peaches
- Fill the rest of the glass with lemonade (I used crystal light)
Although Jake has very limited time (only 4 days off a month) we look forward to his Saturdays off, so we can explore what the “Magic City” has to offer.
I am glad you guys got a chance to go! It sounds awesome and I would love to go next time we are in town! I would also love to try your peach cocktail! Sounds yummy. I love flowers and the ones you chose are so pretty! I guess I will also have to try the bacon slaw dog since you both love it so much! I am thrilled to hear you guys had a great time and how much you love your new city!
Thank you so much, Cheryl! We love Birmingham! Jake didn’t want to go at first, but he had a blast. It’s in such a cute area. I would love to take you next time you visit. There are some cute restaurants in the Pepper Place area where the farmers market is hosted that we are dying to try soon. I will have to make some peach cocktails too. Pop’s was seriously amazing. It seems like the usually have a stand at the farmers market from what i’ve seen. P.S. our home is almost together, y’all will have to come see it in person. We’re loving it!
Cute dress! Seems like the perfect choice for this activity! And that cocktail sounds delish too!

We love visiting our local farmers market, but unfortunately it is in doors. Love the one you visited and love your dress by the way!
The indoors would be nice when it’s hot though or rainy 🙂 It was such a fun day. Thank you for checking my post out.
