SHOP SCARLETT’S PARTY DECOR:
On May 14th, we celebrated our sweet Scarlett’s 2nd birthday with a “tea for two” themed party. We didn’t do a true theme for her first birthday party (last year’s bday party post here), but I planned this theme last year. I have always loved tea parties and Scarlett loves my tea set, so I thought the theme was perfect for her.
We used a lot of floral and gingham decor last year and were able to use most of the decorations this year. This made it a lot more simple since we were in the middle of listing our home. We decided to have the party in Texas at my parents’ again and I’m so thankful. It was the perfect timing to be able to leave the house for the week while our house was shown and sold. I used the same backdrop as last year (more details here) and my aunt taught me a new way to make a balloon garland (check out this Instagram tutorial I made here). I thought my balloon garland looked much much better this year. We celebrated Scarlett with family and a few close college friends and it was so special.
I did the same cake setup as last year, but we got this precious new tea cup and tea pot banner from Mi Amiga Designs. The banner completely made the table! My dad made the backdrop behind the cake (Instagram video here showing how I set it up) and I covered the board with a crib sheet. I found the same coordinating floral fabric at Hobby Lobby that was in the banner and I loved how it turned out. I added a layer of tulle at the end. One of the special touches we did for her birthday was to use my precious great-grandmother’s tea cups and serving pieces as a decor. We even added one of her teacups to the top of the cake.
When I saw my LoveShackFancy dress, I knew I had to have it. I saved up to get it, and have worn it for her birthday and Easter. I know it will be a dress that I love for many years. My mom, grandma and I found Scarlett’s dress at Neiman’s when we were shopping for my birthday and I love the sweet details. We also got her a little Mackenzie-Childs tea set and it was the perfect gift for the party.
May was absolutely crazy with a heavy travel schedule, listing our home and then getting Covid (thankfully it was mild, but we’re still pretty tired from it). This month is bittersweet as it’s our last month in Birmingham.
