Happy Thursday! I cannot believe we took these newborn photos exactly 2 months ago and that I’m finally sharing them. When I was pregnant, I started inquiring with photographers about scheduling a newborn photoshoot all the way back in February. However, as COVID became more serious, I decided to not proceed with scheduling. My original plan was to take our own newborn photos on my tripod. We did a few that way, but let me tell you, newborn photos are HARD and it’s 100% worth it to have a photographer to capture those precious moments professionally. Our newborn photos looked a lot different than planned because of COVID. I wanted the traditional ones taken in the nursery but that wasn’t the safest option. We did a couple quick ones at a distance where our photographer wore a mask, but the majority were taken outside socially distanced. We waited until one month to get professional photos, which I actually preferred since Scarlett was starting to keep her eyes open more.
What To Wear:
As I mentioned, I kept postponing newborn photos because we take socially distancing very seriously and because I couldn’t figure out what to wear. I knew I wanted to go with a neutral theme and put Scarlett in pale pink. We picked neutrals because my plan for our forever home is to do a gallery wall and I wanted some newborn photos to frame for it. When I was pregnant I didn’t know what would work for my postpartum body, and when I had Scarlett I tried on this dress from my maternity photos. Sadly the dress looked frumpy without a baby bump. I had planned to have it be my newborn photo dress. I didn’t have a good white dress that was flattering early postpartum. I ordered a bunch of dresses and loved the lacey details on this one. It is fitted in the waist, but a little flowy everywhere else, making it perfect for postpartum. This dress I got recently would also be very flattering for newborn photos. Also, make sure to have a backup outfit just in case. Jake ended up having to change shirts because Scarlett spit up all over him. I was so glad I had pulled a few shirts for him just in case.
Scarlett will be 3 months tomorrow and I cannot believe how fast time is flying. Time truly goes by faster when you’re a mother. Stay tuned, I will be sharing some home decor posts soon and about our breastfeeding journey.
