Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Last Sunday was such a special day because Scarlett got baptized and had her first birthday party. Getting her baptized symbolized our promise to teach her about Christ. Our faith is very important to us and I pray with Scarlett every day. I cannot wait to see her faith develop. If anyone has any tips, please let me know.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19, we delayed her baptism until she was one, but we’re glad to be able to do it now. She was baptized at the church I grew up in and it was so special. I was still being careful with COVID and they agreed to do an outdoor baptism. Scarlett wore the same gown I did 30 years ago and it was so sweet seeing her in it. I cannot believe how well the dress held up.
It was very rainy on the way to the church, but we’re so thankful it cleared up in time for some photos. Luckily there was an awning to stand under for the outdoor baptism.
What To Wear To A Baptism:
Before her baptism I was not entirely sure what to wear. The dressiness will all depend on the church. Catholic baptisms are more formal from what I’ve seen. My thoughts were to wear something I’d wear to Easter Sunday for our particular church. Her baptism was outdoors and our church isn’t super formal, but being dressed conservatively was my main priority. I decided to wear this gorgeous Chicwish midi skirt with a white blouse. This top has an open back so I wore a cropped white tank top under it. The skirt runs true to size and is absolutely gorgeous. I love the beautiful organza fabric. This skirt would be perfect for a shower, nice tea party or a Kentucky Derby party. I almost wore it to Scarlett’s birthday party but decided to be more casual. Jake didn’t pack much for our trip, so he wore a suit (he had some Zoom meetings that required one). He would’ve been fine wearing slacks especially since it was outdoors. He looked very handsome.
Stay tuned; her birthday party photos will be live on Thursday. We had the best day celebrating Scarlett’s baptism and birthday.
Your baptism gown looks amazing!!! I love that your mom kept it so Scarlett could wear it.

Thanks, Jennifer! It was special to see her in it.
Hello Courtney !! The bible verse from Matthew is so important , to let the Children come to Jesus. It is our duty as parents to teach our kids in the faith and we are our kids primary teachers. I know she will develop in her love for God under your guidance. I am glad you got to go back home for the baptism and that she wore the same gown as you did is precious . It can be used for another generation at least! Being Catholic myself I know they are very formal. You attired beautifully in your lovely skirt and blouse. Your make-up looks flawless as usual! Jake does look handsome in his suit! Maybe he will start a new trend for him ! Such lovely family photos , your Mom looks lovely also in her pretty dress. Have a nice Memorial day, Terri xo.
