Our Patio Decor On A Budget

Happy Monday! I am so excited to finally share our fully decorated patio. When we first saw our home while house hunting, the screened in patio was a huge selling point for us. We knew it would be somewhere we would want to spend a lot of time.  Our backyard is very shaded and the patio temperature feels great, even on the hottest days. There is something so Southern about a screened in patio and I love it. It’s our favorite spot to enjoy a glass of wine/cocktail or eat dinner. A lot of times on weekends when Jake is busy, I will find myself writing my blog post on the patio.

When we moved to Birmingham, we had a patio dining table, but didn’t have a patio set. One of our first home decor purchases was our patio set. We were excited to find this adorable red one at Walmart for a great price.  As we were waiting for our moving truck to arrive with all our indoor furniture, we even used the set inside. We knew we wanted something bright and fun, and the red stuck out to us. I added more color in with the rug and blue pillows to make it a lively space where I would love to spend lots of time at.

I finally finished decorating the patio with my recent project, this shelf that I filled up with plants and outdoor decor. Everything is from Dollar General (except the bird house in the middle) and the plants are from Trader Joe’s. Not going to lie, originally I had 6 plants, but I have a black thumb, as a few of them died pretty quick in this Alabama heat. I have set an alarm to water them daily and they do seem to be holding up better.  To finish off the patio, we bought some string lights. I can’t wait to have people over soon. The patio will be a frequently used photo spot this summer too.  We are finally done decorating our home! I will share our fireplace remodel soon.

About This Outfit: This casual outfit is perfect for a night on the patio. I sized up in the skirt and notice the skirt doesn’t tuck in well with a top. It  looks best with a crop top or a tied top like this. I kept it simple with casual accessories.

Jake and I went to Nashville, TN this weekend for a last minute getaway. I took the whole weekend off from posting on Instagram and it was much needed. As much as I love having a place I can use as a creative outlet, it was great to live in the moment and not worry about being on my phone the whole time. I will be sharing some Nashville content on Thursday.

Thank you so much. I’m glad y’all use yours too. Absolutely, breaks are necessary. I think I’m going to start taking more weekends off, especially ones that Jake is off. It was refreshing. We were so sad to miss.

Your patio is absolutely perfect! I’ve been eyeing up red patio decor myself. My mom has a very similar set to yours (I think she bought it at Walmart too!), and I’ve been obsessed with it! Your little bird houses are the cutest too. And I hear you on having a black thumb…I have a hard time even keeping a cactus alive. Setting a timer is a good idea! So glad to hear you had a great weekend with Jake!

Aw Thank you, Lindsey! Ahh how fun. It really is so hard to remember to water them, I killed a cactus too, which is hard. I hope all is well. I cannot wait to catch up on your posts.

Hi Courtney, details like a screened in porch can be a deciding factor in buying a house! You saw the potential in utilizing the porch and now your ideas have come to fruition. Being shaded is a nice bonus. We bought our house 13 years ago and didn’t consider where the evening sun would be. Our deck is on the east side of the house so we are shaded from 4pm onwards which I like. I can see it is a gorgeous spot for a glass of wine or inspiration for writing a blog. The patio set is so nice! I love the red with the contrasting blue cushions. The rug is a fun and vibrant addition. String lights are such a great addition. I like the shelf unit, do not worry about the plants , you will be a great gardener soon! The outfit is lovely on you. The skirt looks so pretty and it brings out some of the colors in the patio set and rug. Have a beautiful Wednesday, Terri xo.

Hey Terri! Yes, its such a great area to hangout in. I am not sure what way the sun faces on our house. I need to check, I am bad at directions. I am so glad you like the decor and my outfit. I hope you have a nice weekend! Xoxo
