A couple of weeks ago, Jake’s mom Cheryl and her best friend Kaye hosted us the sweetest, most thoughtful and Pinterest-worthy baby shower. The timing worked out perfectly since we were already planning to go to Oklahoma for a surprise birthday party for Jake’s best friend. Jake was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma and we feel so blessed that we got to celebrate Scarlett with his family and so many amazing people he grew up with.
I’ve been dying to share all of the shower details, but wanted to announce Scarlett’s name first before sharing. A lot of the decor had her name incorporated, so it was very special. The pictures seriously don’t do it justice! I shared a few sneak peeks on Instagram stories and y’all were wanting to see more. Since there was a lot to see, we went to check out the event space the night before so we could take it all in before guests arrived. As soon as we saw the room, I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped to the floor because everything was perfect. They put so much time and effort into making it a special and gorgeous shower!
Some of the highlights included a table displaying Kansas City Chiefs outfits for Scarlett, a massive teddy bear with a tutu that Jake’s dad picked out, a table full of beautiful outfits on custom mannequins that they had made for the shower, a table with her name with outfits hanging around it and a table full of outfits with cute little sayings. The most special one said, “I was handpicked for mommy and daddy by a special angel in heaven, my Ma”. Jake’s grandma, who he called Ma, was such a huge part of his life and was the sweetest lady. Kaye handmade a lot of the gorgeous decor with flowers, which was such a special and gorgeous touch. I’m pretty sure they need to get into the party planning industry because they did such a good job. Also, don’t worry, the teddy bear did not make it back to Birmingham with us. We would have had to buy about 3 rows of plane tickets to fit him on!
Jake and I feel so blessed to be showered with so much love, and definitely feel very fortunate with the timing of the shower as well. With all that is going on in the world with the Coronavirus, if it had been 2 weeks later we would have had to cancel it.
