Art Print c/o | Frame c/o | Fig Tree | Bed Pillows
One year ago, Jake and I made our big move from Oklahoma City to Birmingham, Alabama. A year later, our home is finally all decorated and we’re settled in. This year has been filled with many exciting changes as well as a few rough patches (our awful moving company taking over a month to show up with our stuff and a tree falling on our home in February). The year has truly flown by and we love Birmingham and our new house so much. Since our Birmingham floor plan is completely different than our OKC one, we knew we would need accent pieces to decorate our home. I chose to decorate our main areas first, since that’s where we spend most of our time. Our bedroom was the last room for me to decorate, since I couldn’t find the decor I was looking for. I didn’t want to settle on something. I was also struggling to find affordable curtains that didn’t look cheap. They say good things happen to those who wait, and that couldn’t be more true.
When remodeling our kitchen and breakfast room in April due to damage caused by a tree falling on our home, we added a mantle for our fireplace. Since then, I have been looking for some art to decorate the new mantle. During my search, I found this gorgeous abstract art from Minted by artist Christine Olmstead and fell in love with it. I never knew that Minted sold art, but they have so many gorgeous options. Their art is even sold at West Elm. The funny thing is, when the painting came, I decided the size was too big for the mantle and that the square shape didn’t work. Luckily I immediately realized the painting would be perfect our bedroom and it really is. It’s funny how when sometimes things don’t go as planned, they end up actually going better. The painting is exactly what I needed to “make” the room look completely. It is the perfect color scheme and size. I already had accents of navy blue and gold. The painting complements the space perfectly and adds some elegance. I added a storage bench under the painting and now our room feels complete.
When ordering the picture, I accidentally ordered the painting unframed. It is a print, so you do have to frame it. I went through Framed & Matted to order a custom frame. It’s hard to find a frame that is 30” x 30” unless it’s custom-made. I chose the Crocker frame and couldn’t be happier with it. I think the frame completely makes the art work. Although the art is a print, you would never be able to tell. The quality is amazing and it looks original. Every time I go in our bedroom I cannot stop staring at the painting, it’s truly gorgeous. I know this painting will be something we use for a long time.
I just finished decorating our fireplace mantle too; stay tuned, as I will be sharing that and our patio soon.
That print is gorgeous!! I love it in your bedroom. I noticed that minted had art work the last time I was on their site. They really do have some cool options!

Wow, Terri! That’s such a sweet compliment. Decorating doesn’t come as easy to me. I had to do a lot of trial and error. With fashion I can usually pick my outfit in my head. Decor isn’t that canes. Happy Friday. Xoxo
Well you did great Courtney!
I like the little gold accents and love your lamp!
