Are you a fair skinned lady who avoids wearing yellow and orange because of it? I used to think I could not wear yellow or orange, since I’m a fair skinned brunette. After deciding to attend Oklahoma State University I knew I had to find a way to make orange work for me, since OSU’s main color is orange. Luckily I have learned some tricks to make wearing orange and even yellow work for me. Now when summer rolls around, I am all about the warm, bright colors I used to worry I couldn’t wear.
How To Wear Warm Colors For The Fair Skinned Woman
- Add an accent color for accessories: I never realized it, but turquoise and yellow/orange really compliment each other. I love to add turquoise accessories near my face to help make these colors look better on me. Also, adding navy or even white helps tone the warmness down.
- Self tanner: I try to not get too much real sun, since I know how hard it is on your skin. Self tanner has become my go-to, especially for wearing warm colors. I love Jergen’s self tanner for my full body and I love Sally Hansen for my legs.
- Bright lipstick: Adding a bright pink lipstick definitely helps make warm colors work for me
- Finding The Proper Shade: I have learned that oranges with more coral work better for me. I have also found that muted shades work better for me as well.
Also, on another note how is summer already almost over?

Such a cute dress! I have fair skin too and struggle with some of the brighter colors washing me out unless I get the right shade.

Thank you so much! Yes, it can be so hard for me too 🙂 These tips have really helped me be able to be comfortable in them.
that yellow looks great on you! I loathe yellow for myself, but hubby says it doesn’t look bad on me. This is great for summer too, with how hot it’s been!

Thanks for the great tips Courtney! I like yellow but i guess was not conscious so much about it clashing with skin tone. But the turquoise earrings look great with your dress! A bright lipstick is good too and fun to wear. Yes Summer is coming to a close quickly. How has it been spending it in Birmingham ? I am sure its still an adjustment .
