This weekend I got organized for fall while Jake applied for residency programs. I moved all of my fall clothes down from my off season rack in the closet. I did a little fall decorating and even had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season #basic! I can’t wait to share our fall decor soon.

If you’re from the South, you know it doesn’t get cold until late September or October at the earliest, so shorts are something I am still wearing. Right now, our weather is in the 80s and 90s. I am not quite ready to give up shorts just yet.

The trick to wear shorts into fall is to think dark colors and fall textures. Right now lace is HUGE, especially eyelash lace. I have seen it everywhere. When I put this outfit together for a casual surprise party, the first thing I grabbed was my lace cami. I also pulled out my suede wedges because suede is huge for fall, as normal. At night it’s a little cooler, so long cardigan is the perfect way to complete the look.

Layering necklaces is also a huge trend right now, so I layered my new Arlina Jo choker and lariat chain necklaces.

A little background about this brand, I feel extremely blessed to have connected with the owner, Frances. When we connected, she told me was her husband is a physician and was so encouraging about the steps from going to a med student to an attending physician. Connecting with med school and physician wives is always fun for me because they truly relate to the struggle.  She has been so encouraging and it was nice to hear from someone whose husband is an attending physician and see the light at the end of the tunnel. You can find her story here.

Cute shorts! I try to stretch out short wearing season as long as possible. I can remember wearing shorts on Thanksgiving a few years back (I’m in North Carolina)!

Thank you so much! Yes, I grew up in Texas and we’ve had some Thanksgivings that I probably could’ve worn shorts too.

Usually we can wear shorts into fall but it has been unusually cool here this year! Maybe it will warm back up and we can sneak a few more weeks of shorts in before its full-time pants and leggings weather.

Love this post! In California it’s just starting to cool down but still short weather. These outfits are perfect for that.
