“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

October is probably my favorite month, since our fall weather usually finally makes an appearance.

I cannot believe it, but Halloween is right around the corner. This year has flown by and all I can think about is May will be here before we know it (Jake’s grad).

I have always loved Halloween since it’s an excuse to dress up. I’ve never been the type to want to dress in gory costumes though. For Halloween, I have always picked a costume that was on the glamorous side.

This year is no different, I have decided I want to channel my inner Blair Waldorf. In one of my first blog posts, I talked about why this show is so important to me. You can read that post here.

I ordered this bow tweed dress online for fall since it was so ladylike and chic. When I first tried it on, I decided it would be the perfect Blair Waldorf costume. This dress screams classy and Chanel (on a budget), which is the definition of Queen B herself.

I brought my headband along and, in the middle of the photo shoot, I thought “what would Blair do?” She would wear her bow on the right so I added that touch.

This dress is perfect for other occasions, too.  Once it gets colder, I can see myself adding black tights and wearing booties with it.

There are many costumes you can make with things from your own closet. Some examples include:A Real Housewife or Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast At Tiffany’s. The key to making a costume out of things in your closet is to find things that are the character’s signature style or something similar to what they wore in the show or movie. In Blair’s case, she dresses preppy, so this classic A-line silhouette, tweed fabric and bow on the dress were perfect for this costume.

What are you going to be for Halloween?
