Shop My Outfit:
Happy Monday! In order for Jake to take last weekend off, he has to work 19 days in a row. Luckily he only had to work a “half-day” on Saturday (which, in residency, a half-day ends up still being 5:30 a.m. until noon). We were able to accomplish a lot in his short time off, like crossing new places in Birmingham off our to-do list and watching college football. It’s magical how just a few extra hours together can make you reconnected.
Since football season has finally started and Labor Day has come and gone, it’s no secret that I have fall on my mind because it’s my favorite time of the year. I’ve said this many times, but I don’t expect the temperature in Birmingham to drop anytime soon. Now that Labor Day has passed, I am finding myself wanting to dress for fall. With the humidity outside here, it’s miserable to be outside with long sleeves right now. I am finding ways to wear lightweight clothes that still look like fall though. This is mostly darker colors and adding textures like suede and leather.
If you’re looking for the perfect “staple” dress, this Leith dress is a must. It seems like most bloggers have it, but that’s for a good reason. It hugs your curves in just the right places, so it’s extremely flattering. I usually avoid bodycon dresses because I don’t feel comfortable in them. This dress is different though! It’s the perfect transitional piece because it comes in many fall colors. It works year round, too. I have a ton of little black dresses, but this one is great because it can be dressed up or down. I kept this look pretty casual and then added a leather jacket at the end to show y’all how to wear it when it cools down. I also plan to add booties as well. I am getting mine out this week. I will be putting my straw bags away soon, so I had to use this bag one last time this year.
I love that the dress works year round. I’m trying to get better about investing in basics and this is a dress I would gladly take in every color.
I am starting to slowly decorate for fall. I will share my decor when I finish.
What did you do this weekend?
I love the photos and you look absolutely stunning!!

You are so sweet. Thank you so much.
That dress is smoking on you, Courtney! Thank you for this! I feel like we never get a real “Fall” or “Winter” here in Central Texas.

Thank you so much, Marta! I know the feel. I grew up in Dallas/Fort Worth area and we really didn’t get much of a fall/winter. I am not expecting much of one in Birmingham either. It finally dropped to 90 haha.
I went to an amazing party this weekend and spent time with family! I love your transition to fall look!

I love this! It feels like it won’t be cooling down anytime soon here either. I really need to get a black dress like this. I also love your jacket. And wow! 19 days in a row?! That’s intense. So glad to hear you two had some time together this weekend!

Oh gosh, I know! It is still 90 here. I bet it’ll be October before it’s even in the 80’s. Thank you so much. It was a good buy. I know, intern life is rough. Once he’s done with the 19 days, he will be on a rotation where he FINALLY gets weekends. We can’t wait. We plan to do some road trips nearby.
These are great transitional looks. That jacket!!!! I want!!

Thank you so much! Yes, you need it. I didn’t realize how much this color goes with. I LOVE it.
Hi Courtney, I am sure it is hard doing a photoshoot wearing a leather jacket in the humidity you still have in Birmingham! You are so dedicated to do that for us. The dress is gorgeous on its own and I can see how it makes for a flattering figure . Yours is always flattering btw! The leather jacket and bag looks so good with the dress and the earrings add the right pop of color. I feel for Jake having to work so many days in a row. I also feel for you , it cant be easy in a new city but your positive outllook has to be a help. I am glad you both got to hangout! Here is my latest events Dear https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/50599855/posts/1989316045 Take care , hugs, Terri xo.

It really can be, but luckily these photos were taken in shade. It wasn’t too hot in these. When I do the leather jacket I always do it quickly until it cools down. Aww thank you so much. You’re always so kind. I cannot wait to read this post you shared soon. 🙂
Im glad it was not too hot Courtney . I hope you enjoyed post!
