It has been in the teens this week, so my wardrobe is in winter mode. In the winter I tend to gravitate toward neutrals, but I still like to add a pop of color.

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I am all about adding a statement element to each outfit. This is something I’ve noticed that I almost always do. I love to pull out colors that are in patterns or add color to an otherwise neutral look. That’s just what I did with this outfit.

My precious niece, Kimberly helped with pictures again

I ordered this fabulous black and white coat knowing it would be perfect for Christmas with a touch of red, and I knew I would wear it into spring/fall. It came right in time for Christmas and I’ve already worn it several times.  My favorite way I styled it was adding a pop of red.  Jake’s family gave me this gorgeous little red bag and I knew it would be the perfect with the coat (I am seriously so blessed that Jake’s family is so good to me!). After I got the bag, I came across these fun red booties while grocery shopping (#targetdoesitagain) and had to have them to wear with my new bag and coat. (I sized up ½ a size in the shoes, but recommend getting your regular size).

This coat is the perfect wardrobe staple piece. It is not lined, so I wouldn’t recommend it on days when it’s in the teens. It’s perfect for moderate winter days though (we have a lot of them in OKC). It will also go into fall/spring. It runs oversized, so for a more fitted look I sized down. Wearing all black underneath with a white top layer did create a little lint on the black, so I recommend using a lint roller inside of the coat before leaving the house.

I can also see it being styled with all black for a chic look or with pink for Valentine’s Day.  I love this coat so much, so I am sure it will be on the blog again!

We are headed to Denver tomorrow. If you have any suggestions on what to do, please comment below!

When I saw the coat I knew I had to have it, but wanted to style it with color to make it more “me.” I am really obsessed with red right now for winter, so it’s my go-to. I look forward to it too 🙂 I hope you have a blessed weekend and I will be back to blogging after a week off 🙂
