Exploring The Farmers’ Market in Floral

Shop My Outfit:

One of my favorite Saturday morning traditions for spring/summer in Birmingham is the Pepper Place Farmers’ Market located just outside of downtown. They close the outdoor market for the winter (when they host a smaller indoor market), and they just reopened recently for spring. I’ve written all about the Market at Pepper Place before here, but I had to share again this year now that it’s open. When Jake can get off work in time, we rush there to grab lunch and explore.  Jake and I always have to start by grabbing a bacon slaw dog from Pop’s Neighborhood Grill. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Our farmers’ market sells so much stuff; there’s delicious freshly cooked food (Pop’s is just one of many local restaurants to set up there), fresh produce from nearby farms, ice cream and Steel City Pops’ famous popsicles (this company started in Birmingham and now have expanded so much that they even have a store in my hometown of Southlake, Texas), all kinds of pottery and beautiful crafts from local artisans, and so much more. We also like to walk through the vendors and see what catches our eyes.

My Favorite Things To Buy At The Farmers’ Market

  • Fresh Flowers- I always love to pick up some fresh flowers like the ones in this post
  • Strawberries
  • Peaches
  • Mint
  • Local honey- There is just something so much better about local honey
  • Pimento cheese- They seriously have some of the best pimento cheese I’ve ever had. Pimento cheese is a delicacy in the south.

Since the farmers’ market is all outside, it does get a bit warm. I wore this yellow dress since it finally feels like spring. It’s so light weight and is perfect for the weather right now. Since I was walking a lot, I opted for flats. When we were walking around, I discovered this darling mural that matched my outfit. I couldn’t help but get photos by it.

Do you have a local farmers’ market? If so, what is your favorite thing to pick up at the farmers’ market?

Aww thank you so much, Katherine! The farmer’s market is one of our favorite outdoor spring/summer spots. Ya’ll should go soon. It really does taste better. I have always bought store bought honey until last summer and I don’t think I can go back now. Jake’s parents sent us some local honey for Christmas that they gifts to their clients for Christmas and it was amazing too.

You look so cute! I love yellow and turquoise together. Local peaches are the BEST….I haven’t ever found a famers market in OKC that I love but Stillwater has a great one that I visit when staying with my in-laws.

Thank you so much, Amanda! I hope you’re recovering from jet lag. Ahh yes they are delicious. I want to go peach picking soon. I think Edmond has a farmers market, but i’ve never been. I had no idea Stillwater had one. So fun.

We haven’t been to Pepper Place yet this season. Hoping to go soon. Bob loves to buy the Midnight Salsa. We also enjoy sitting with a cup of coffee and listening to the live music.

Y’all will have to go. They just recently reopened for spring. I’ll have to buy that salsa, sounds amazing. I’m out of honey, so I am planning to go with or without Jake on Saturday. That sounds so nice. We love Pepper Place.

Farmers Markets are great Courtney! I have to admit it has been a while since I have been (don’t tell anyone!!) but it is important to support . We like to get corn on the cob, a big hit in our house. Also the baked goods are usually so tasty. This dress is so cute on you! It is a very feminine cut and I i love the color and print. Love how you accessorised also. Happy Monday Dear, Terri xo.
