Happy October, y’all! On Wednesday of last week, Jake and I decided to be spontaneous and plan a weekend road trip to Nashville, TN. He had this weekend off and we decided to take advantage of only being 3 hours away from Nashville. Living close to fun places like Nashville is a huge reason we wanted to live in Birmingham. We visited Nashville last Christmas (post here and here) and were craving a visit back. On the way home, we made a stop at Cheekwood Estates and Gardens. I had seen pictures of the cute pumpkin house display on Instagram, so I had to get my fall pumpkin fix.
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” L. M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables.
The gardens are gorgeous and had a great assortment of pumpkins and themed scarecrows. The property also features a stunning estate, formerly the residence of Nashville’s Cheek family, founders of Maxwell House Coffee and Tea. The house is set up as a museum of how the family left the home and also features an art gallery. Behind the mansion is a woodland trail with numerous sculptures spread throughout the forest.
There is also a beer garden with food trucks on the property, which was a nice touch. Although admission is $20, unlike Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens free admission, I felt like there was enough to do that you get your money’s worth. If we lived in town we would definitely become members. I hear they also have a cute Christmas display.

Stay tuned, I will be sharing more about our Nashville visit on Thursday.
