As summer quickly comes to an end, I wanted to share about Jake and my visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens as well as tell you about this fun palm tree dress.
One afternoon before Jake started residency, we decided to go visit the Botanical Gardens since it’s not far from us. We had just moved to Bham and had recently visited the Oklahoma City one. Jake and I enjoyed viewing the scenery and learning about the plants. The best thing about Birmingham’s is that it has free admission, unlike the Oklahoma City one. I have a feeling I will be back to take more blog pictures because of that!
When you walk in, you’re greeted with beautiful outdoor gardens all around. We enjoyed walking around hand-in-hand and being romantic. There are beautiful gazebos and so many areas for photos. This would be a perfect place for senior photos or bridal portraits. I also saw online that they have a cafe on site. We didn’t check it out, but will have to. It’s only open during the week, though.
After exploring the outdoor portion, we made our way into the greenhouse. We were so impressed with the plants. It was very humid, so we looked around quickly. They had everything from palm trees to cacti. It was also fun to look around and see the different plant types. I even discovered my dress matched the palm trees, so a picture standing by them was necessary. I didn’t actually plan that, but I was happy how it worked out. Speaking of this dress, it has been on repeat all summer. It has been the perfect grab-and-go dress for me when I’m in a hurry. It can be easily dressed up or down. It also features an adorable back.
Fun fact: my great-grandma had a greenhouse in her backyard. She was part of many garden clubs and I have many fond memories of her. I think my love of flowers probably comes from her. Visiting the greenhouse brought back many memories of spending time with her in my childhood. I always loved checking her backyard out to see what she was growing. Although I admire plants, I have not tried to raise my own yet. Maybe I’ll try that in the near future though!
Our visit to the botanical gardens was great and I plan to come back in the fall. I’m curious to see if they decorate with pumpkins and fall decor. Speaking of fall, I have a few more summer looks that I plan to share with y’all. As soon as September rolls around, I will be sharing transitional fall looks, and then going full-on fall. Last year I feel like I rushed into the season, so I don’t want to do that again this year with how hot it still is.
P.S. I also am almost done decorating our main areas of our home. I’ve been taking it slow, but I’ll be sharing my first home decor post soon.
This garden is gorgeous. We live in Pennsylvania, 2 miles away from a huge garden, and we go all the time! Fun for kids also!
