Before we moved to Birmingham, I was a little scared about finding picture locations for my blog. Luckily, I quickly found that Bham has many perfect photo locations. I wanted to continue with my monthly Bite Sized Birmingham series by bringing you the most Instagramable spots in the city. Whether you’re looking for a spot for family pictures, or if you are another blogger looking for new photo spots, or if you’re looking for senior pictures locations or any other occasions, I hope this list is helpful. These spots are in no particular order of my favorites, and I have included the addresses to make them easier to find.
Bham’s Most Instagramable Spots
Farm Bowl and Juice Company in Homewood, AL
1920 29th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209
I have been eying this spot for a while and luckily convinced Jake to take some pictures there. Note: unless you’re eating there, do not park in their lot. There is a man who watches the parking lot. We went on a Sunday afternoon and found close parking, but on a busy day I’ve had to park far.
Real & Rosemary in Homewood, Al.
1922 29th Ave S,Birmingham, AL 35209
This fun wall is located just across the street from Farm Bowl and Juice Company. This restaurant also is so Instagramable inside as well.
Alabama Theatre/Lyric Theatre
1817 3rd Ave N,Birmingham, AL 35203
If you’re looking for a spot that represents Bham, this is your spot, with the Alabama sign in the background. Right now they’re re-doing the main Alabama sign on the actual theatre, but this one is around the corner. I didn’t get a photo at the Lyric Theatre, but it’s right across from Alabama Theatre and would be so cute for photos
Robert S. Vance Federal Building and United States Courthouse
1800 5th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203
I have also been dying to take photos at this gorgeous marble building because it’s so elegant. We took these photos on a Sunday and easily found a front row parking spot. During the week it might be tough to find one.
Rotary Trail
1st Avenue to 32nd Street,Birmingham, AL
This is another classic photo spot I’ve been dying to visit. Luckily there is close parking and the sign is a perfect classic Bham backdrop.
Vulcan Wall Art
1818 3rd Ave N Birmingham, AL
This mural is located in a parking lot; the lot is right by the McWane Science Center.
The Vulcan is the Roman God of fire and forge. There is a statue of him on the edge of downtown. It features one of the most gorgeous views of the city. Bham is known as the Iron City, so The Vulcan is a very fitting symbol. This mural is a perfect representative of Bham.
Shoppe
3815 Clairmont Ave Birmingham, AL 35222
This is one of my most commonly used photo shoot locations. Not only is it gorgeous, but the people who work there are always so kind. If you have any garden needs you must check them out. They also have the most perfect gifts.
The Summit
Summit Shopping Center, 201 Summit Blvd Suite 100 Birmingham, AL 35243
The Summit is my favorite shopping area in Bham (an outdoor mall) and features many cute murals. My favorite is the BHM one in-between Barnes and Noble and Trader Joe’s. There are so many cute photo spots in The Summit too.
Nice To Have You In Birmingham Wall:
John’s City Diner (located on their building) 112 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd N, Birmingham, AL 35203
This is one of the most iconic spots in Bham.
Morris Avenue
2018 Morris Ave,Birmingham, AL 35203
Morris Avenue is one of the most popular spots for photos because there are so many different spots on this cobblestone road.
Pepper Place
2829 2nd Ave S,Birmingham, AL 35205
Pepper Place is one of my favorite places to take photos at. There is a farmers’ market on Saturday and it’s an entertainment district. You can see more on Pepper Place in this post.
Birmingham Botanical Gardens:
2612 Lane Park Rd,Birmingham, AL 35223
The gardens are a perfect photo spot and are free to enter; you can see more on the gardens in this post. They don’t allow tripods or big camera equipment though, so I hardly shoot there anymore. Around Christmas, there is a gorgeous poinsettia tree in the greenhouse.
Vestavia Temple of Sibyl
154 Montgomery Hwy,Vestavia Hills, AL 35216
This gorgeous pavilion is perfect for photos. You can see what this area looks like in this post here.
Other spots:
Parking Garage Overlooking Downtown:
2118 4th Ave N Birmingham, AL 35203
This is a hidden gem that another blogger told me about when I was asking for a good parking garage overlooking downtown. It overlooks the Redmont Hotel and several other well-known buildings in downtown. Note: it’s not free to park in here.
Elyton Hotel
1928 1st Ave N,Birmingham, AL 35203
This is a gorgeous boutique hotel that has perfect backdrops. I’ve shot there once and there are many gorgeous spots in the lobby and rooftop. I would recommend getting permission before you shoot.
Railroad Park
1600 1st Ave S,Birmingham, AL 35233
I haven’t shot here yet, but have been there. There are gorgeous skyline views of downtown.
Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark
20 32nd St N, Birmingham, AL 35222
Birmingham is known as the Iron City and Sloss is a historic landmark and museum. The site is also a unique venue for events & concerts. Supposedly it’s haunted. I want to shoot here soon.
Color tunnel
1 14th St S,Birmingham, AL 35203
This is a beautiful rainbow underpass. I haven’t shot there yet because the area is a little sketchy. I would be very careful if you shoot there. I’ve driven under it many times.
Aldridge Gardens
3530 Lorna Rd,Hoover, AL 35216
I’ve never shot here, but really want to.
About this Polka Dot Dress:
I wore this outfit to Art on The Rocks, a fun series of events that the Birmingham Museum of Art hosts over the summer. The last one is August 9th. I got so many compliments and feel like it’s the perfect summer sundress. I dressed it up with pops of pinks. This might be my favorite Shein dress I’ve ever purchased. It runs true to size and is so flattering.
On another note: My camera card got corrupted when trying to upload these photos. I am so glad that luckily I was able to find software to recover them.
Did I miss any great picture spots in Birmingham?
What a helpful guide!! Now I want to visit Birmingham even more! 🙂

Thanks, Annaliese! Ahhh please do.
You did a great job and finding wonderful places around town. But, here are a few more that I like. Water Fountain at five points South it’s called the storyteller and the sculpture is made by Frank Fleming a BirminghamIan artist. Also another area in Southside. Place called Cobb Lane, of course it is a cobblestone street with a handful of a restaurant and a wonderful martini bar called, the blue monkey. Linn park downtown has a wonderful water fountain that you can stand in front of plus the park is just beautiful. Those are just a few that I can think of. By the way I love your this article, bite-size Birmingham… Okay, I did not go back and proofread, so hopefully it all makes sense. 🙂
