If you saw my blog post on Monday, I mentioned a picnic date at home was something I am wanting to do during the quarantine. I didn’t quite get my real picnic date with Jake since he’s so busy. I did however set up a styled maternity picnic shoot in our backyard. Scarlett is due exactly a month from today, so I am making sure to get as many bump/maternity pictures as I can. I want to remember this special time even in the pandemic and I also know I will miss styling the bump. I also have a lot of clothes with nowhere to go, so it felt great to dress up and give myself a little normalcy. This dress is non-maternity, but I did size up. It’s so feminine and I thought it was perfect for a backyard picnic themed shoot. I absolutely love how everything turned out and told Jake to be prepared that when Scarlett is older I will be replicating this shoot with her!
Something you may not know about me is that I absolutely love dishes and collect MacKenzie-Childs. When Jake and I got married, I did a whole MacKenzie-Childs wedding registry. I started collecting her pieces before we got married and have quite the collection now. I love that it’s bright and whimsical. We have a China hutch full of her pieces and I love her seasonal items too. Most of my pieces just sit in the China hutch, but I decided life is too short so I needed to break out the tea themed pieces of my collection and take some maternity photos. I also love antique tea cups and pulled out one of my favorites that my grandmother gave me.
I am hoping to do a real picnic with Jake soon. We have a picnic table in our backyard and it’s fun to have a change of scenery from the house. In a way it feels like a mini-retreat.
P.S. Thank you to Jake for helping me bring everything into the backyard, for taking photos, and helping me get up after. At almost 36 weeks pregnant it’s getting harder for me to sit on the ground and get up now!
How is everyone doing? I want to check in on y’all.
This is the sweetest every Courtney! You look beautiful- what a fun idea for maternity photos! <3

Aw thank you so much, Katerina. It was such a fun change of scenery. I hope you’re doing well and staying safe.
Hello Courtney I’m so glad that you were able to pull-off the styled maternity backyard picnic photoshoot. This dress is just so feminine and gorgeous on you! I want pictures of you in it in a standing position after Scarlett arrives! The China collection is just so lovely. That will be cute, having a backyard picnic with Scarlett when she’s a little older. Send my thanks to Jake for helping to make this post possible! I hope you’re getting plenty of rest still, Terri xo.

Thanks so much, Terri! 🙂 Great idea, I definitely will have to take pictures in this dress when Scarlett arrives. I think it would be a forgiving postpartum dress since it’s not tight in the belly. I will tell him thank you for you 😉
This looks great Courtney! I love picnics at the park!
