Shop My Outfit:
Happy August! I cannot believe it’s time to share this month’s back to basics post. This month I decided to share the shirt dress, one of my go-to’s for work, church, or lunch with girl friends. If you’re anything like me, when you wake up for work you just want to be comfortable. I always want an easy to put together look that doesn’t require a lot of effort to style. Shirt dresses are so effortless and look professional too. They’re also so flattering and comfortable. While my job doesn’t require me to be very dressed up, being modest is a must. I have found myself grabbing this dress because it’s so easy and gives you a polished look.
This one is from Mott & Bow. I’ve shared their jeans before, but they just came out with a line of dresses that are perfect basics to have. With some other shirt dresses, I have noticed I get a gap in the button around the chest area. Luckily this one doesn’t do that! This dress comes in black, white and blue and Oxford blue stripes. I decided to go with the black, since it will work year round. Although I have no plans to share transitional fall outfits until the last week of the month, I picked black knowing I could wear it all year. Work clothes is one area of my closet that I don’t have a ton of, so I try to get more basics especially.
I styled this one with a pop of pink on my shoes to play up the summer season. For work, I typically don’t wear heels unless they’re wedges. These pink flats are the perfect way to add a statement, but still be comfortable. I also added this gorgeous Katz Meow bracelet and it’s so elegant. It is the perfect way to dress the outfit. In the fall I cannot wait to style this dress with some leopard flats.
Stay tuned, next month I will be sharing my must-have fall basics. Do you own a shirt dress? Where is your favorite place to wear it?
