Shop My Outfit: My dress is non-maternity, but comes in a maternity version too. I plan to wear it for newborn photos too. I’ve linked both versions.
My due date is in 9 days and I wanted to put together a letter for Scarlett in honor of Mother’s Day. I also wanted to finally share our maternity photos. I’m so excited with how they turned out and know we will cherish them forever. This has been such a special time and I am glad we have been able to document it despite the current circumstances with Covid-19. A little update on Scarlett: I went to my 38.5 week appointment and the OB said I am starting to show signs that my body is getting ready for delivery! The doctor said she could be here any day now, but she could also hold off until her due date. It’s pretty hard to predict when labor will happen, especially in first time moms. I am excited to see when she arrives.
As Mother’s Day approaches this weekend and we are just a little over a week from your due date, I want to thank you for giving me the best gift in the world: motherhood. Being a mother is something I’ve wanted and dreamed of since I was a little girl. I cannot believe the time is almost here. I have always looked up to my own mother and seen her as my biggest role model. She has made so many sacrifices for me. Now that I’m about to be a mother myself, I can see why she was always so protective of me and has always looked after my best interests. I am already so protective over you and promise to always be there for you whenever you need me (and even when you don’t). I promise to always put you first and make sacrifices for you. I promise to lead by example and be a positive role model for you. I promise most of all to love you unconditionally.
I never knew I could be so bonded to you even before we have physically met. Every kick and movement fills my heart with so much joy. God knew what he was doing when he gave me a daughter. I pray that we are best friends like I am with my own mom.
I find myself frequently spending time in your nursery rocking chair and just daydreaming about all of the sweet moments we are about to have together. It’s a scary time in our world with Covid-19. But with all the uncertainty in the world right now, one thing I am certain of is that you’re the greatest gift I’ve ever received. You give your dad and I so much joy and have helped us to get through this scary time with happiness.
Your dad and I prayed hard to be blessed with you and God’s timing was perfect when he picked you to be our daughter. We know He hand picked you to be our daughter. I thank God for you every day and pray that you will be safe. I cannot believe the time we get to meet you is almost here.
Preparing for you has been the sweetest time with your dad. I pray that you find a husband who loves you as much as your daddy and I love you and love each other.
I know the moment that dad and I meet you will be the best moment our lives and will change us forever. Thank you for giving me the best gift in the world, being a mother.
We are anxiously awaiting your arrival any day now!
