Happy Thanksgiving week! With only 35 days until Christmas, it is time to get a head start on planning. Planning for me includes finishing up Christmas decorations, picking out party invitations/Christmas cards, party planning, planning outfits (my favorite part), and gift shopping.
It is probably no surprise that Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the beautiful decorations, the red and green colors, holiday Starbucks drinks, the glitter everywhere, the parties, the family time, the outfits and, most importantly, the reason we are celebrating, the birth of Jesus. It is just the happiest time of the year!
As I mentioned, party planning and picking out invitations is part of my Christmas planning. In the past I have kind of just winged it when it comes to this, but this year I am determined to be more organized. I came up with 5 steps to make picking out invitations easier this year.
5 Steps To Create The Perfect Holiday Party Invitations:
1. Pick a date:
To me, weekends work better, preferably a Saturday or Sunday. I recommend having a Christmas party at least one week before Christmas.
2 Determine a guest list/party size:
Do you want to keep it small and just invite close friends and family, or do you want to invite your whole neighborhood?
3. Type of event:
Do you want a formal Christmas dinner, a cookie exchange, a hot chocolate social, a neighborhood potluck, or a New Year’s Eve celebration? The options are endless. Based on how many people you want to attend, you can pick the type of event from there.
4. Picking Out/Customizing Designs:
After doing my research for online invitation stores, I came across Basic Invites. They won me over with their amazing customer service! They are a service to meet all of your holiday party invitations and Christmas card needs.
They offer almost unlimited colors for designing the invitations, so this really helps you customize your invites. With over 180 color options, you’re sure to find the perfect shade for every element of the cards. This includes over 40 different colors for envelope options. This way, your friends will not miss the invite in their mailbox. They even offer custom samples, so you truly know what you’re going to get before you order a lot.
If you’re hosting a formal party, they offer flat or raised foil. This includes gold, silver, and rose gold. I am huge into metallic colors, so this is great for me. With over 250 designs ranging from holiday dinner party invitations to Christmas party invitation templates, they will have you covered this year.
5. Mailing Them Out:
In order to give your guest as much planning time as possible, you should send the invites out 2-4 weeks in advance.
The best part about Basic Invites is they offer address capturing services. This allows customers to simply share a link on social media to request their friends’ addresses and it will be stored in their account. They even offer address printing at no additional cost. That is probably the #1 reason I decided to use them. I have the worst handwriting, so having the addresses printed on the invitation is a life saver for me!
Right now they’re offering 30% off with coupon holi30. How great is that?
Also, don’t forget Christmas cards too, they have you covered. I ordered my cards from them and they turned out beautifully.
Stay tuned, I will be sharing Christmas outfits and more gift guides soon. Are you hosting a Christmas party this year?

Your makeup looks FABULOUS in that first photo!!
Aw thank you. I tried something different and did some orangey/ brown tones for the OSU game 😊
Hi Courtney, I love your make up too in the first pic! The busy season is coming , starting with thanksgiving, then on to Christmas, I just think it is so sad that all the advertisers don’t ever mention the reasons for the season , The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I love your invitation for t he party , cute and simple! We will not be hosting a party, it would be nice but its crazy around here some days with 4 kids to get it done this time of year. Thank you for another wonderful post Dear, Hugs, Terri xo.
Aw thanks, Terri! I tried something new with my makeup and did some orange tones for the Oklahoma State game. I actually liked it. It’s in my Anastasia palette and I had never used the colors.
I agree, it really is so sad they don’t mention that. It is so easily to forget, but I really try not to. Have an amazing Thanksgiving.
