Happy Monday! If you’re anything like me, you see a clothing item and you immediately style it in your head. I’m pretty sure I get this trait from my mom. When I saw this gorgeous floral kimono, I instantly had several ideas of how I wanted to wear it. Although the temperature in Birmingham is in the 90s, this kimono is very lightweight. It’s also the perfect way to give your outfit a polished look. I’ve worn it to work over a tank top dress, which otherwise wouldn’t be work appropriate. Kimonos are huge right now, largely due to their versatility; they’re perfect as a swimsuit cover up, as well as with shorts, jeans, or a dress. I had great feedback when I shared several ways to style the white dress last week, so I wanted to share several ways to style a kimono, too. This SheIn kimono runs true to size; I’m wearing a size small. I’m very impressed with the price and quality.
3 Ways to Style A Kimono:
With Shorts/Pattern Mixing:
Shop This Look:
I am a huge fan of gingham. It’s a pattern that screams summer/spring fashion. These pink gingham shorts are absolutely adorable and paired perfectly with the kimono. I ordered these two pieces together and was glad the patterns worked together like I envisioned. The key to mixing patterns is keeping them in the same color family/scale. These shorts do run a little small, so I sized up and they fit perfectly.
With A Dress:

Y’all know I’m a huge dress girl because they are soooo comfortable. Kimonos are usually a little oversized, so the key to style them is with something fitted. My dress was not fitted, so I added a belt. This outfit gave me major Blair Waldorf vibes with the headband. I am so glad that headbands are in style right now.
With Jeans:

Although I’m not a big jean person, I love these Mott and Bow jeans. I always wear a larger jean size than dress size because I never want my jeans too tight. These are very flattering and the kimono gives it a more polished look.

Aw thank you! So sweet of you. Happy Monday.
The kimino is gorgeous on you Courtney !! It is a very pretty print and I am glad it is lightweight . Sorry it is in the 90s already there. The shorts are adorable , I like the gingham look and the bow is a nice feature. It goes so well with a white dress , a win win and i love the headband . I don’t see you in jeans often but you totally are rocking them with the white top . I will go with the gingham look as winner , but not by much. You are such an inspiration to us in taking the time to show us all your clothing looks every week Courtney, I just want to say I appreciate it and all you do. Thanks for the summer inspiration links, Take care Dear, Terri xo.
